Aluminium instead of cast, one would assume 'cast' to be iron, aka stainless steel, so in that train of thought, the weight capacity should decline if going to aluminium, as it is a softer metal.

i have pse 8 i can't find add layer mask (hold alt and click layer mask) 6:15 on the video time line. all videos i find are done on stupid apple system and the commands or keys/mouse clicks that are said to use in videos for PC do not work. and at the begining of your video you stated your in export mode. that too i can't find or is not part of pse 8. pse 8 was in a discount bin and so i bought it, i can't find myself to spend over 30 for software that i almost never use so being it was in a discount bin i got it. so thats why im using pse 8; unless someone buys me a newer version, if anyone says upgrade thats my reason, because there will be someone that will have something to say bout upgrading.

Thanks for reaching out. I’m not familiar with that particular tank. However, any tank that is light tight and allows you to change the chemicals as you go would work. A popular tank is also Jobo. You may be able to find one of those. Thanks!

You bet, they're the best, most stable, most beautiful tripod on the market. I've a J100 for 30+ years and another of their tripods is 30 years older than that. Not only that but the firm I worked for sold them cutting tools to build the tripods with. Great people all around.

As far as I understand you only used 1/4 of the recommended amount of stock developer per 8x10 sheet. (62ml instead of 250ml recommended) That might influence the quality of the negative.

Thanks a lot, very useful! It could have been interesting to also address the case where you need to remove sheets of film from the film holders in the field, meaning that you won't be transferring them straight to a developing drum, but instead store them back in a temporary container until you are back in a place where you will develop them yourself, or ship them to a developing service. As a beginner to 8x10 I have struggled a bit to find advice on how people do this. I know understand that storing exposed film in a spare film box is the most usual practice, which doesn't really help when you are about to open your first box ever. In this case it seems that most people just store expose film at the bottom of the box containing new film, possibly within a dark bag if one is available. I have found that B&H sells empty dark bags from a company called Delta 1 that seem to be a good solution for such cases. Just my 2 cents. :-)

Appreciate you watching! I took a trip to old car city (there is a video on my channel) and I had three holders with me. I would shoot during the day and develop at night. I have a film changing tent that collapsed down and was easy to transport when I was traveling. I agree, if you don't have an empty film box to put film in, it a challenge on how to store. Sounds like you found a great solution!

To prevent oxidation of partial liquids in 1 liter containers simply add clean glass marbles till the liquids reach the top! Best results are obtained with distilled water! I also have a large stainless perforated spoon with a red painted handle, the green one is used for the fixer to mix with. I also boil my water to remove the disolved oxygen. I know this sounds anal but I find precise results come from precise work!

wow, could put a 18" gun on this thing, but nice and precise. a couple of other alternatives are the manfrotto 028 and 058 studio tripods, they have a larger column, geared& locked by knobs, and has a similar leg style, ie two part guying to a central post, which has the foot on it; and for heads, an Arca-Swiss C1 cube, if not a D 4, which can handle a MF 2 &1/2 KG camera and lens set up with ease!!- not sure about the 8 x 10 though?

@@SpencerPullenPhotography I shoot 4x5" a Sinar monorail, and another option came my way in lieu of second hand at a camera store, a Marsace MT-3541S with a Benro BV8H video head a video head with a systematic style tripod with a 75mm bowl adaptor for the BV8H head, this takes the weight, and with such beefy legs, should handle the "off center weight" that this sinar can produce, esp. in macro, with extensions and a 210 or so lens. After having a look, and feeling the counter balance, this should allow pan and tilt without losing control of an assembled monorail, and the extendable pan bar is extra insurance against this. [the pan bar is the only external handle that can obstruct anything, and it can fold down tight to the legs for easy transport]- a key consideration when going out with the rig.

Thanks for watching! Depending on which developer you use and how fast it works, you may need to deduct some time. I found D76 worked best with this and I used posted times without an issue. I’ve not shot color so I can’t say one way or another if this would work. I know color chemistry needs to be held at a certain temp. Thanks!
